Featuring articles detailing the log of his flight the reaction to his historic achievement and his mother's reaction to her son 'Lucky' Lindberg's success. Numerous contemp. adverts. An interesting piece of memorabilia. NOTE: Charles 'Lucky" Lindberg's historic non-stop flight from New York to Paris was backed by a group of St. Louis businessman. The Orteig Prize which was offering $25 000 to anyone who could achieve such a feat was established in 1919 by Raymond Orteig. Lindberg's plane was built specifically with extra fuel tanks. He left New York at 7:52 am on May 20th and landed at Le Bourget Field near Paris at 10:24 PM on May 21st. Overnight Lindberg became a folk hero helping to ignite a worldwide interest in the future of aeronautics.
