This is a rare or used book from the Berkelouw Rare Books Department.

London: John Murray 1873. 8vo. Orig. blindstamped green cloth (light flecking) with gilt lettering to spine (top and bottom edges lightly chipped). (xxii 458pp.). With one fold. chart. Includes Historical Sketch and introduction at front and Glossary at end. Hinges cracked but holding. Very light foxing on endpapers. A near fine copy of the important sixth edition of this groundbreaking work. The last edition in which Darwin made corrections and revisions. It was the first to include the word "evolution" to describe the mechanism of natural selection and include a glossary making the text more accessible to non-scientists. A fundamental work in our understanding of modern science.
