Irregular pagination of Appendix. Edges of plates lightly foxed with offsetting throughout. Previous owners bookplate on front pastedown. Hinges cracked. Slight foxing on front and back endpapers as expected otherwise a very good complete copy of this first edition. NOTE: Whilst the search for La Perouse was unsuccessful this voyage allowed Jacques-Julien Houtou de la Billardiere to collect over 4000 plants animals fish and birds. His collection was sent to England as prizes of war but with the support of Sir Joseph Banks were returned to France. His book Relation du Voyage a la Recherche de La Perouse was published in 1800 in French before being translated into English in this edition offered here.
